Term 2 Update

Update

Dear Parents

I hope you and your families are well, and you have been enjoying the lovely sunshine over the past two weeks.

On Tuesday 21st April, the NSW Premier announced lessons for students in Term 2 will begin on Wednesday 29th April.

On Monday 27th April and Tuesday 28th April teachers will undertake professional learning and prepare work for students for the first few weeks of term. There will be no classes for students next Monday and Tuesday.

Term Two will continue as it finished in Term 1. From Wednesday, our school will be open and operational for all students who need to attend but where practical, parents are encouraged to keep their children at home.

Teachers will plan the same learning for students at school and at home.

Student ‘take home’ packs will be available for collection from outside classrooms from Monday at 8.30am (and each day next week). Please go to our school website to request a pack for your child. This is a paper version of the online learning tasks.

This pack contains four weeks of work. Each day teachers from all grades will be online to explain the daily tasks and answer questions. The tasks are suggestions only – there is no compulsion to complete all tasks. It is recommended students undertake some reading and maths every day. Bug Club and Mathletics tasks will be included in the daily tasks where appropriate.

Cleaning

The school has undergone a range of additional cleaning processes organised by both the government and the school, to ensure a high level of hygiene. Increased cleaning arrangements organised by the government will be in place throughout term two.

Arrival times

I ask parents to ensure students arrive at school after 8.35am each day, as has always been the time supervision commences at our school, and leave school promptly at 3.10pm.

Drop off and Pick Up Changes

Starting next Wednesday 29th April, we ask parents, grandparents or those people responsible for the school drop-off and pick-up to remain outside the school gates. Please say goodbye to your child/children at the kiss and drop area or at the school gate. A member of staff will be at each gate to greet students and guide them to their playground area. At the end of the day students will be escorted to the same gate (unless we are notified of other arrangements).

Before and After School Care

Students who need supervision before or after school can still attend OOSH. The procedures for dropping off and collecting children from our OOSH remain the same. Parents must sign their children in and out of the centre as usual. Vacation care is available next Monday 27th April and Tuesday 28th April. Places are limited.

Extracurricular Programs

There will be no extracurricular activities such as dance, creative writing etc in Term Two. Online band and music tuition will continue.

Canteen

The canteen remains closed until further notice.

Uniform Shop

The Uniform Shop is currently only open for online orders, which will be packed and available for collection from the admin office or classroom.

Managed Return to School

I will send more information next week regarding the arrangements for the staged return to school from May 11th which the Premier announced this week. Students will be allocated a day per week to start returning to classrooms. In this way we hope to begin the process of returning to face to face learning for all students whilst keeping every student, parent and staff-member safe.

We hope everyone understands these processes are in place to assist us all to get back to our normal routines as soon as it is safe to do so.

Best wishes

Denise Minifie and Staff
